5 gifts with personality ? & 1 story I will never forget
? Dear Friends ? Before we show off our luxurious Christmas gifts (which also made it into the December issue of Vogue), I would like to share a personal story with you. It’s an anecdote from many years back, but one that I still deeply cherish today. It happened in the middle of an icy winter when I was around 12 years old. On this day, we learned about grafting in school, a technique in which the tissues of two different plants are joined together. The result? Two plants continue to grow as one. Two plants becoming one?! I was astonished, fascinated and confused. How was something like this possible? Later in the evening, I found my father sitting by the fire place. Still spellbound by what I had learnt earlier that day, the story about this impossible miracle just poured out of me. My father, delighted by my curiosity, took a twig from the firewood and a knife, and showed me how to graft. It was in this moment that I decided to work with plants and that I wanted to be surrounded by the fascinating wonders of nature for the rest of my life.
